Going to Kenya was a life changing experience; it was a great opportunity to see how the funds we had raised were being utilised.

Project Kenya
Promoting Ecotourism & Global Citizenship
There are now plenty of companies offering expeditions, holidays and Gap Year experiences but few that offer a genuine worthwhile experience based on the needs of both the overseas community and the visitors and that don't make a profit out of the volunteer
We plan and negotiate appropriate activities, for individuals or groups, based on the individual skills and the knowledge of the visitors and the needs of the community in Kenya
We are focused on one community in a beautiful, remote & disadvantaged part of rural Kenya and have extensive local knowledge based on over 20 previous visits over the last 8 years. We have personal experience of being part of the Ndhiwa community, and keep up-to-date with developments by regularly visiting all of our projects.
Our projects & activities have clear short, medium and long term goals, are based on extensive community consultation and led by local community members
We are not about providing a quick fix like short term projects or sending groups overseas to just paint murals on classroom walls or do the jobs local Kenyans can do. What makes us unique is this long term commitment to projects in a genuine longstanding partnership with the community
We allow plenty of time for participants to prepare in advance for the activities they will be involved in and provide local orientation sessions in Kenya with a member of the Ndhiwa community

Project Kenya
Making a Real Difference in Kenya
That is what we mean by making a real difference!
Each individual's contribution goes directly to the project in Kenya
This money supports the long term goals of the Team Kenya.
The carefully selected projects are all managed by the local community

Volunteers /participants can choose to involved with a range of activities as diverse as tree planting, journalism, photography, activities with Scouts and Guides, computer training, teaching English in schools, working with girls to promote children's rights & gender equality, sports coaching, drama and music.
Whatever your skills are we can match you up with the right project & the right people
Benefits for the community in Kenya
Your contribution helps generate local economic benefit from sustainable tourism, and encourages & promotes environmental conservation.
Our project encourages the development of ecotourism for the benefit of the community contributing to poverty alleviation and economic empowerment & social and cultural enhancement.
Staying in a community-owned and run guesthouse & buying local produce generates income directly.
Profits remain within the community, jobs are created and women further empowered
Using a combination of traditional and new technologies (including solar power) ensures environmental sustainability.
We also have our own unique carbon offsetting scheme to encourage Responsible Travel
(To plant trees and provide energy efficient stoves & training for community members)
Impacts of the projects are continually monitored and assessed to ensure that they are positive and appropriate for the needs of the community
"Our project is about long term commitment not just a quick fix"
